When a friction occurs between two objects, electrons hit another electrons. That's why electricity is formed. Electrons are opposite charges, so when they collide with each other, they create a splash of electrons, which is the electricity ^^

The electrical effects produced by friction are well known. A hard rubber comb can attract small bits of paper after it has been used on a dry hair. This happens because the comb, after rubbing with hair, becomes charged with electricity. The same phenomenon is noticed when a plastic pen is rubbed on a coat sleeve. The friction of textiles can also produce electrification. If after a dry day, one takes off terylene clothes in the dark room, one can see electric sparks and even hear their crackling sound.

Electricity produced by friction between two dissimilar objects is known as static electricity. Depending on the nature of the objects, one acquires the positive charge and the other an equal negative charge. For example, if a glass rod is rubbed with silk, the rod acquired positive charge and the silk an equal negative charge.

Electrification by friction can be explained on the basis of transfer of electrons (negatively charged particles of an atom). When a glass of rod is rubbed with silk, some electrons from the rod attach themselves to the silk. Thus by loosing electrons, glass becomes positively charged and by gaining the same number of electrons silk acquires an equal negative charge.

Electricity is the name of flow of current, in normal routine current is produced when a charge flows from one point to the other point under the effect of some potential difference. This concept of generation of electricity was introduced by R.A. Millikan in his atomizer experiment in which some droplets of oil were dispersed into an electric field.

When friction is created it causes passage of some energy to electrons which are already bound to the nucleus of the atom through electric static force. With the energy from friction these electrons try to get free from the nucleus of the atom because now they have energy which has excited them enough to break free from the atom.

Once the electrons are out their atomic shells they are free to move now they can easily move in the direction of electric potential applied. All these electrons will then flow in any specific direction causing flow of charge. This flow of charge will then produce current and hence it is said the electricity is produced. However very high level of friction is required, which depending upon the nature of the material will be sufficient to produce electricity, because in different atoms different excitation energies are required to separate the electrons.

Whaen you seat on a plastic chair or a simple chair may be then, you have to take a towel and hit the chair and a person sitting in that chair will get a suddn current immediately
