I'm not sure why people keep saying the fourth unemployment extension (HR 3548) has passed. I know that we all want them to do it now (hell, they should have done it at least a month ago!), but it is so frustrating to be told that it has been passed when it hasn't! The correct answer is: No, it hasn't even been voted on yet. The Senate has voted to consider it--that's all. Don't take my word for it. In fact, don't listen to hearsay about this sort of thing--go right to the source: www.senate.gov and check out the Senate calendar. It says that they are going to "consider it" again on Monday, November 2. We will not know anything until next week at the earliest. .

No because it goes to the same committee that is hearing the health care bill. And thats the problem! Who knows when they will vote on it!!
I called senator harry reid's office this morning. I was told that the bill will be voted on by friday
They voted to "talk" about it. They didn't "pass" it. Go figure. It gave us all false hope.
You must feel like god's having the power of life and death over millions of people. This is the usa isn't it???? I fought for it, doesn't that matter????
I called this evening the senators office they said they was still in meeting but expect it to pass but then it has to go back an be sighned by obama please GOD help us soon
Unemployment Extension Set for Passage Next Week

It appears increasingly likely that Senators will pass the Unemployment Compensation Extension Act (H.R. 3548) sometime next week.
Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) indicated this morning that if Monday’s procedural (cloture) motion is adopted on the bill, House and Senate action could be completed by Tuesday which would allow the measure to be sent to President Obama for his signature.
Since the Senate is offering a substitute amendment to the originally-passed House bill, House members must vote one more time after the Senate completes action before work on the legislation can end. If Senators adopt cloture on Monday, at least one more vote on final passage will likely be necessary.
According to Congressional Quarterly, the Senate’s version would “provide 14 additional weeks of unemployment aid in all 50 states.”
People in states with jobless rates exceeding 8.5 percent would get an additional six weeks of benefits. Currently, 27 states, along with the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, would qualify as high-unemployment states.
