Finding out what .875 as a fraction is easy. Here's a quick explanation:
Think of as 0.875 = 875/1000
We choose 1000 because there are 3 numbers following the decimal point.

Look for a common divisor: 25 looks like a good place to start.

875/25 = 35
1000/25 = 40

so

875/1000 = 35/40

Can we go further?

How about dividing by 5?

35/5 = 7
40/5 = 8

so 35/40 = 7/8

How's that?

Think in terms of eighths: .125 is one-eighth. .250 is two eighths, .375 is three-eighths, .500 is four eighths, or one half. .625 is five eighths, .750 is six-eighths, .875 is seven eighths, 1.00 is the whole.

Adding .125 each time gives you eighth-part portions. These numbers are used frequently in mortgage rate and interest financing...

Move the decimal two places two the right which will make it a percent then put it over 100 and simplify it
