Based on my experience in engineering, my guess is that the highest volume "by hand" usage in normal life (as opposed to student life) is finding the areas of circles and the volumes of cylindrical objects. YMMV. By far the highest volume usage by machines is computing the curves for graphics display. Perhaps the second highest volume usage by machines is computing approximations of math functions in calculators or computers. These would include log and trig functions and numerical integration.
