Limestone weights vary in accordance to three factors: Where it comes from (the density of the rock varies according to where it was quarried, the size of the rock and whether it is wet or dry. Generally speaking the smaller sizes weigh more than the larger because it compacts tighter.

For instance: A cubic yard of #57 size stone = which varies in size from 1/4" to 3/4", without "fines" (the crushed power) will weigh approximately 2,300 to 2,500 lbs, dry.

# 4 size stone (1.25" to 2") will weigh approximately 2,200 to 2,300 lbs, dry
