The first acrylic nails that were press-on were developed in the 1970s. It is not exactly known who invented the nails. At first dental acrylic was used but due to some people being allergic, other methods were used and now with the development in resin chemistry, it is possible to make a large variety of different nail enhancements which include sculpted nails, nail wraps and tips.
