What are your thoughts on prostitutes?
They live sad lives, a lot those women are in prostitution to get money for hardcore drugs like meth and herione. Some girls are even abducted to become sex slaves and never return home because they can't escape or they're dead. This is nothing to be encouraged at all we should be helping these women.
IMO ... There's not much difference between someone who wants money for sex and someone who insists on dinner & a movie for it.

As long as it's regulated like any other service industry, I don't see a problem with it.
I'll never pay for one even if she's a "high class" prostitute.
I've met a couple of working girls during the course of a long lifetime and, before you grin and say, "Ah-hah!", it was not in a practitioner/client situation. In my experience there's no way to categorise them: Some you could take home to meet the family, others would NOT be welcome. People differ, no matter what line of work they choose.
As a group, they meet a need that's existed in all societies from the beginning. I'm in favour of legalising them so that health checks would be mandatory and exploitation kept at a minimum.
Comically, a parson-turned-politician was caught watching porn on his parliament house computer a few years ago and he's so sanctimonious that the newspapers had a field day. Fiona Patten, leader of The Australian Sex Party (a lobby group for the sex industry) told a group of delighted journalists, "I will defend the reverend gentleman's (name omitted here) right to watch porn as often as he wishes."
Personally, I'd rather be dead than become a prostitute, but I get why some girls do it; for food, or money. I have no problem with them, but it's the girls that do it just because they want a little bit of 'fun' that I do have a problem with. It's not right. I also have a BIG problem with guys who pay girls to have sex with them. I hate that almost as much as I hate man kind's ignorance, and their selfishness. Can't those guys see that what they're doing is wrong??!!

Well, if I were seeking a bride and accepting resumes for the position, I would probably eliminate anyone who listed "prostitution" as an accomplishment for my approval.
Not because they are "bad," or "sad" or have "problems"---but because it indicates that they put different values and understanding on the meaning of genital sexuality as a part of a committed long term relationship between a man and a woman than the values and understandings that they possess.
The "whys" that women go into prostitution vary. Some anesthesiologists no doubt enjoy having another human being dependent on them totally for life or death.
They are still damn good doctors.
I had a friend about 40 years ago who ventured into the "profession" for a very short time and it had no subsequent ill effects that I could see.
I also knew a business owner who had contacts with girls who were available to be with clients if so requested. (And in thinking of some of the ones I met so long ago, perhaps I would give at least some consideration to their resumes.)

I don't know a lot about it .. Just what I hear and see on TV .. But, it has occurred to me that not a lot of these people are in THIS business because that is what they aspired to do .. I could be wrong, but I always had the impression they get into the business because they don't have other options, out of desperation or because they've been forced into for some reason.
and .. That makes me feel sad.
