Yes she was. That woman could wail.
I believe so. She owned a true unique voice outlet with particular timber and tone. A type of voice that you don't find everywhere.
YUP!Only before Bobby Brown got to her.
She was a natural ... A great singer. But I think she was a troubled person ... Probably even before Bobby Brown. I don't think anyone can single-handedly change someone so drastically.
Yes, she was, I loved her voice!
She did.
I saw her in concert before she started with the drugs. If you have ever been to a concert, you will have noticed that most people do not sound quite as good as they do on their recordings. Recordings have the advantage of sound studios for a better quality sound and they release the best recording of many takes. Whitney Houston was the exception to this. Seeing her live, she was spot on. She was truly gifted with a great talent. Too bad she didn't have the right people around her that would let her unwind and teach her how to relax without the drugs.
maybe :D
Dear Kaygen Miles,
I will be devil's advocate here and say maybe not, maybe not as good, her voice not as much depth. So glamorous, beautiful...but how much did her undeniable allure contribute?
Kate Smith with her thunderous contralto, Mahalia Jackson, more recently kd lang who imo may well be the finest singer of our time. Mahalia Jackson, I recall age 20 climbing onto a chair to put my ear next to the radio on top of the refrigerator...first time hearing her...
I can tremble and go into tears and almost altered state when a singer is truly superb - did not happen with Whitney Houston... Although I just listened to I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU and yes she was very very good.
I have neither the talent nor sufficient knowledge to critique anyone about their singing.
But, for those interested, here is a pretty good site:
