Dear Roy Roy,

There was a time that I swore I would never eat hog maws and chitterlings (pig stomach and intestine), but I did.

Also swore I would never eat octopus - but I did.

Currently I am drawing the line at head cheese (the brains, blood, eyeballs of pig or cattle, all ground up together and congealed), which people in my part of the world made when you butchered and wasted NOTHING.            So far also, I have not eaten pickled pigs' feet, oxtail soup, nor chocolate covered ants.

* * *

However I am only 72 years old...so we shall see...

I've eaten and enjoyed frog's legs but draw the line at snails. That's not very logical since I love prawns and Balmain bugs which probably have a similar texture.

I've never eaten koala or Tasmanian devil but have enjoyed crocodile and kangaroo.

And I haven't yet been hungry enough to eat a dog.

First time anybody's ever explained the taste to me. Thanks. I know my aversion is silly. Just a garden thing, I guess.

Scallops, lobster, and clams, they all are like chewing rubber bands to me!  Oh, also Rocky Mountain oysters!

Only place I tried the scallops, lobster, and clams was Red Lobster. Don't get much seafood in this part of the high mountains of Colorado. I tried Rocky Mtn. Oysters with in a hour of them being removed from the beast. Don't know if it was the fact of what they actually were, or I didn't care for them in general. I even tried them butterflied and pounded into chicken fried steak type offering. Still too chewy!

Since it was Red Lobster, it was both frozen AND overcooked. I won't even go there. It's just nasty.

Red Lobster can destroy any good food.

Scallops and lobsters are tender and sweet when cooked properly.

I'll give you the clams issue, but for me the taste is worth the "bounce."

Thanks Ray, I still think I'll give it a miss though :)

In one of the early episodes of Scottish TV program, Taggart, they had a murderer who, by day, was employed making black pudding. Alex Norton, who played the role, later said that the week it was shown, the sales of black pudding were down all over Glasgow.

I'm fine with cornbread as long as it doesn't have chunks of vegetable in it. Otherwise, I love it

Balut. Fertile eggs with a little baby chicken inside. No thanks. Disgusting.

Will never try most bugs: Ants, crickets, grubs...all sounds gross to me, even though I know people eat these.

As for more "normal" food, there's nothing I won't at least be willing to try.

Any plant matter small and slimy. Usually beans and peas and the like. I'm ok with lentiles, and used to love soybeans, but my brother hated soybeans to the point where I couldn't stand his gruesome descriptions any longer. I'm also fine with corn as long as it stays on the cob. I actually love the flavor of grapes, but unfortunately can't stand it due to the above criteria

Meats other than the normal.  My mum left a tea bag in a goat stew that she made the first time I ever had goat and that turned me off any other meats than the normal cuts of beef, lamb, pork and fish.

Hello
Roy! I will never try any dish that has beef or pork in it! I grew up within a
family where we did not consume these meats and I will certainly stick to this
principle until the rest of my days. Do note food that contain chicken or lamb
is eaten occasionally, but in most cases veggies, greens and fruits are on the
menu.
