Was there a time when people were afraid that women would take all the jobs? If so, how did this fear come to an end?

To the other talking about the pay gap, Genuine question: Isn't that because of factors such as women working less hours or generally taking less jobs? You can't really pay someone doing the same job, for the same amount of time less than the other person, right?

An article certainly a bit short on specifics. This oneis a bit more nuanced: https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2015/04/14/five-facts-about-gender-pay-gap

During World War II women held a lot of jobs that were traditionally held by men. For a very  brief time at the end of the war many men were afraid that the women wouldn't want to give up their jobs. It really didn't matter what the women wanted, because as the men returned those who didn't quit, were fired, so a man could have the job to support his family,  whether he had one or not.

"That women would take all their jobs?" No, I don't think so, men are still more likely to be employed and receive higher wages.
