I definitely put family first. I'm an atheist so there's that.

Devote Christians will tell you to put God first. I personally don't think you put either first. If you take the basic teachings of the bible, such as the Ten Commandments, the Golden Rule, and avoid the seven deadly sins you won't have to choose who goes first. It will all be a cohesive life.

Family.

Time enough for God (or whatever) after you die.

Dear Megan Goodgirl,

There is such tremendous love for us all in the universe...and love is oneness, it is never either/or...

The answer to your question is that whenever we give our first priority to our family, by doing that we ARE putting God first.

Family first ! I sure never saw any god find my brother when he went M.I.A. Nor did I see one when young teen men were getting killed or maimed. It will always be family first before some imaginary deity.

If you're a Christian (follower of Christ) and If you follow the Bible, the answer is  GOD  first.

Here's a couple of scriptures.

Matthew 6:31-33 and Matt 22:37.

It's your choice.

Many consider that if you were to put God first, and this was an ACTUAL being whom requires you to put them first, then it would behoove an ACTUAL believer, in this type of God, to put them ahead of ANY family. It is even considered that more "Blessings" will be showered upon a household that puts God as first priority.

The Bible is full of reference to the Christian God being an ego-centric megalomaniac/psychopath  . . . that HAS to be worshipped an put first ALWAYS.

Abraham about to kill his son because God told him to:

Jephthah's Daughter - Who DID get sacrificed since Jephthah told God he would sacrifice the first living creature to greet him when he returned home.

So, it is apparent that while many believers WANT to put family first, the message is clearly that GOD needs to be first in a theists belief system.

For an Atheist, it is FAMILY FIRST.

The greatest thing about putting God first is that He will let you know when you need to pay attention to what's going on with your family way before you could have figured it out for yourself.

When you choose Him, it turns out you are choosing everything good in life and in its proper prospective as well.
