I only know of one and it's not close.
We have an old Truck Stop nearby. Been there since the 50's. Juke box (with CD's now). Serves Flapper pie. Reasonable prices.
I have quite a few in my area, some old ones and a couple of newer ones. I'm a diner addict, can't beat their home cooked meals.
Only me.
Dear Mountain Man,
Yes there is one, Scotty B's. Tenino, population 1700 if you count the dogs and cats, is on Old Highway 99 - which was the main thoroughfare through western Washington until the Interstate arrived, around 1960.
Locals still use that old road, and the diner has just kept on going. It's even locally owned, not part of a chain, and the food is good.
We have a few in the New Hampshire area, but they do not all seem to fit the criteria for what I consider to be a typical diner (have the dining car look to the outside) and they average about 30-40 minutes apart in frequency.
Here is the one we DID stop at in New York (Hyde Park) -
Sadly no. It's a bit of a drive to get to them. About a half an hour.
There are a couple of places like that around here--diners aren't uncommon in the South.
Grew up near some, not where I am now.
no.
