I'm older than you :) and I like some current music ... I like some rap . And some pop. I like this song for you though ...cos of the convo we had earlier ... Go Suss it ...cos I said so :)
This question is for the older members of Blurtit. What do you think about the younger generations music they listen to these days? (Rap, Electronic, Punk Rock)
I'm one of the younger members, but I just wanted to say that my parents didn't know what dubstep and trap were, but when I showed them, they actually thought it was pretty cool. Not like they're going to start listening to it, but they could understand why I like it rather than just saying "i don't get this music!". I can do the same with the music they like, even if it's not really my thing either. You just have to be open to things.
I have no appetite for it. The occasional new tune will find my ears, but rarely hold my favor. Music has become too diluted, too derivative, in many cases, too damn angry. The point seems less the quality of the product than craving celebrity, deserved or not.
Being Ancient I have heard music come and go. I really don't hate / dislike any particular style or genre. However music for me is an emotional thing. If I am in a happy / excited mood I need some really upbeat music. Sentimental or romantic mood calls for soft strings and piano. Being Ancient I also have issues hearing certain sound waves and quite frankly many singers who are singing in so called English I cannot understand.
I don't even know the music they listen to. I've changed my station to Country.
It's just noise. I cannot stand the metallic/robotic sound on voices now, they do not even sound human, it just grates on my ears. There is also very little meaning to songs, the lyrics are just so repetitive. Then of course it appears that it is more and more about sex, most female vocalists (if you can even call them that), just strut and grind around half naked in their music videos. It's just total rubbish, while male artists talk about bling, money, sex and violence.
With a few exceptions, it's not my cup of tea. I mostly listen to my own music collection ranging from the 40's through the early 80's.
Easy question. Rap is crap.
Electronic music and punk rock both have things going for them that rap crap could not intimate.
Don't really care. My parents didn't listen to my music maintaining that it was "crap". I don't really listen to current music because I'm just not interested, partially because I think my hearing aides don't do a good job with music. Also, I suspect Sturgeon's Revelation applies to modenn music just as well as it applied to the music of my day. .
Rap sux
I only listen to oldies R & B or old Counrty. Clean songs.
Young music seems to be as some have stated very angry, violent, cursing and degrading to everyone. I don't understand the half the world's madness of endorsing in buying HATE. Smh
I listen to 1890s-2010s and pick and choose what I like from those time periods. From Yes we have no bannanas to Im a rich girl.
I don't mind a mixture of Rap and maybe a chorus of singing.
Punk has been around since the 80's and did like some original Punk groups back then . . . What do you consider Punk now?
There are some techo songs that seem overly redundant . . . Like a loop at a Rave, with no real point . . .that is beyond monotonous . . . It is just plain boring and lacking any talent. Give me some Techno with actual lyrics and a great tune, and I will listen. Both my boys are into "Indie" music which makes me slightly guilty by association.
If you asked my parents about my music when I was a kid they would say: Loud, dosent make sense, rude, satanic, too much beat, with no lyrics, sounds like banging a live cat against a tin shed.
Move forward one generation
Kids music today: Loud, dosent make sense, rude, satanic, too much beat, with no lyrics, sounds like banging a live cat against a tin shed.
I hate Rap and most of todays music so being old fashioned I would have to say like the songs say: Drove my Chevy to the Levy but the levy was dry the day the music died " and "bring back that old time rock and roll music"
