Like Gator said, check local ordinances to see if you need a permit or not. Call utility providers before you dig in case there are any burried electric or water lines. Check local codes for concrete depth and reinforcement size and spacing. Find out which slump ( consistency) you need to pour. Concrete steps would be a different slump than sidewalks.

I seen that Jan, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt since there was no website or phone number. Maybe someone just started a business and needed advice. :)

Be sure to check your local laws and zoning regulations. Where I live I have to have a permit, an inspection of the framing before they pour and one after they pour.
