The word hound was used to refer to any four leg animal that barked but now it is used to refer to an specific breed of dog. The word dog on the other hand was used to refer to a specific breed of hounds in the past. Isn't it ironic?:-D

"Sick" is this generation's "bad". Both of which are cool.

"Gay" is the most obvious.

"Fabulous" is another.

People who should know better, particularly politicians, use the word "prevaricate" to mean put off and delay, when actually it used to mean to tell a lie or talk evasively.

I suspect that it will have assumed a whole new meaning within the next 10 years.

Ahhh what is happening to the Queen's English?

Thanks, Ray. One of my sons once asked how to tell when a politician was lying and I said that if he's asked a question that could be answered either yes or not, if he says anything else, he's lying. Of course, I was wrong. He was only prevaricating. It's a good word and I didn't realise that it was being used that way.

I was gonna suggest that the meaning would change in the next four years but I doubt that the president-elect has enough subtlety to prevaricate.

I was once told by a Kiwi (whose spelling was appalling) that, "In New Zealand we use the Queen's English. Here you still use the King's English," Yeah, he was serious.
