When talking to someone new who keeps making bad jokes, how long can you keep up the "polite" laugh and smile?

For as long as it takes, I enjoy those that think they are funny, THAT'S my entertainment..

No polite smile from me. After about 30 seconds, I just walk away.

I'm numb to that kind of a thing unless he/she has an annoying voice.

I will be as polite for as long as need be .. Who am I to rip someone's world apart by being rude or dismissive just because they aren't so 'funny' yet try to make people laugh or try to just fit in. So what if they're really not that good at it.  I can tolerate good intentions .. Bad intentions or nastyness, well .. Not so much.

I'm afraid the pretense from me only extends as far as a smirk. Pretending to laugh or to be amused is too much effort applied in the wrong direction, IMO.

For me this response would depend on what position they played in my life i.e. How much are they paying me an hour? If the wages are good, I'll laugh all the way to the bank if I have to.
