I avoid them all.

I leave FB to shallow, insecure shut-ins with too much time on their hands who crave the validation of strangers. I prefer to go outside and experience life and interact directly with people instead of posting my business to other shut ins with the same defect.

Do you have a FB page, Tom Jackson?

So what say you about those who are able to enjoy the casual nature of contact with friends and family members who live far away .. who can watch and witness events they would otherwise miss out on completely? Are you suggesting they too are "shallow and insecure" because they use the Facebook forum as a means to stay in touch, to share ?

This site is as close as I get to social media.

I've never had much interest in Facebook.

I finally got an account after years of people asking me to join---seldom go there and never post.

It's been kind of like green olives---tried them a few times in a burst of enthusiasm, and I was always disappointed.

(I do love me a kalamata, though.)

I just use Facebook. My family and friends have been spread throughout the world and it is an easy way to keep in touch.

I use Google+.

People can go ahead and make fun of me all they want, it's superior to Facebook.

Mrs Z has a Facebook account (not under that name) and from what I have seen, I personally have no use for Facebook, nor any other like alternatives. Social media is too fraught with empty gab and buffoonery. I enjoy Q&A and prefer thoughtful discussions on deeper topics, especially those relating to Philosophy, History and the "human condition".

IMO, these topics are too poorly represented on FB and the like to draw my interest. I remain open to the idea, however.
