None whatsoever (provided that you have a normal, balanced diet otherwise)..

Here in Canada most table salt has iodine added to it, which is a necessary element. And most foods we eat in Canada do not have natural iodine.

You don't eat cheese, yogurt, seafish, shellfish?

A bit of cheese. But out here on the prairies there is no sea foods at a cost most of us can afford. But you are correct, I looked it up, and even potatoes contain a fair amount of iodine. Guess its just another old wives tale that we do not get enough iodine. Why then Ray, do they put iodine in table salt?

No actually, you are correct, there are parts of Canada where there isn't much iodine in the soil, and hence little makes it into basic foods. I'll cease being too clever.

Despite all the warnings about salt, salt isn’t all bad. “Some sodium is necessary for human survival,” Batayneh says. “In small amounts, sodium helps maintain the correct balance of fluids in your body, and it’s also a key player in muscle contraction and relaxation.” Sodium also makes the process of sweating possible, allowing you to cool down and avoid dehydration and heat stroke, too. “Consuming too little salt can lead to muscle spasms, irregular heart rhythms, and feelings of weakness,” she adds. So the secret of eating salt for health? In a word, moderation.

That is very true ... however .. There is so much salt/sodium added to our foods that 'added' table salt is not neccessary to improve it's healthy benefits.
