Ok, here we go again. I recently saw an advertisement for jewelry that holds the ashes of a loved one. How do you feel about that?

I am of mixed mind here:

Creeped out, but unsurprised at what people will try to make a buck at. Can we expect this morbid swag to be hawked in the mortuary gift shop? Nothing says fine jewelry like doubling as an urn. Troubling.

Maybe you can't take it with you, but they can now take you with them. Sure gives a curious twist to "always being there", doesn't it?  Talk about dividing up inheritance.

I guess everything can have a bright side.

I'm still planning for a Viking funeral. That embalming and display business just makes me sick, almost as much as the thought of being stuck in a fancy box to rot.
Not to demean the noble professionals who make their livelihoods from the funeral industry, it's just not for me.

I choose not to watch the full video period.

I had completely forgotten about that. I like that option.

---Especially now that due diligence would require I make some sort of tentative choice as to my personal disposal method.

I asked the women in my family if they wanted a sealed locket with my wife's ashes in it. All said yes, because she was their mother, sister, daughter or aunt. Some people are creeped out at the thought but others like the idea, so it's a good idea to ask the individuals.

I'm not at all comfortable with doing that---based on personal preference and for personal theoretical reasons.

But that is not a judgement on those who are comfortable with doing that.

I didn't know they made jewelry for that until my Mom passed away recently. My sister bought all the women in the family lockets and had our Moms ashes put in them. I'm glad I have it. When I wear it around my neck, I feel like my Mom is close to my heart.

I find it kind of creepy to be honest. How is someone suppose to move on if they keep the ashes with them constantly. Maybe it's just me.

The goal of an ad is to sell their product. And I am asking this question because I wanted to know if there was actually a decent size market or if most people were a bit creeped out by the product.
