Something that inspires our senses by merely considering it.
A professor of mine once described "beautiful" as that which causes us to pause in wonder.

Beautiful is defined as the property which aesthetically excite intellectual or emotional admiration.
I agree with Z and his professor. Something that is beautiful makes you pause and take it in. It is not always about appearance. It can be about actions or a person's "soul".
Mrs Didge and I were in an art gallery with our teenage son looking at a "painting" whose paint had been slathered over what looked like cans of diced vegetables. My son, art critic of the year, said, "It looks like somebody chucked up on the canvas." Perfect description!
So what do I see as beautiful?
Sunrise, the ocean, the night sky, animals, gorgeous women (and when you get to my age most look gorgeous) and, although it's intangible, love. George Russell said it best for me:
Far above the dim twilight fluttered
mothwings of vapour and flame;
the lights danced over the mountains,
star after star they came.
The lights grew thicker unheeded
for silent and still were we:
our hearts were drunk with a beauty
our eyes could never see.
Something that is the opposite of the ugly duckling. Beautiful also means a gift that your talented at.
Whatever gets me going.
My beautiful wife. She can light up a room.
Something that catches my attention . . . Symmetry usually does a good job of this.
