A UFO is an Unidentified Flying Object. So yes, I do believe that somethings can't be explained, at least by local agencies. There were reports for years about blue lights of the west coast of Florida. Finally someone checked with training flight paths of the Air Force. The F-14 were flying on the days the blue lights showed up. It was the light from the afterburner. I think many of the things people see can be explained. With that said, I would not rule out something extraterrestrial. I don't think we are the only ones, and why not have one more advanced than us.

Well, people see flying objects that are unidentified, so UFOs are real, but that doesn't mean they're caused by aliens.

I think it's highly possible that there are other intelligent beings out there in the universe,I mean there are many galaxies out there, but I strongly doubt that the sightings are aliens from space.

Not usually.

A "hoax" means that someone purposefully set out to fool people.

UFO is just what the acronym stands for:  UNIDENTIFIED Flying Object.
If you didn't know about a top-secret military plane, and saw one fly overhead - it would be a UFO.  (Which is why many people who saw the first stealth aircrafts testing flights claimed they saw UFOs)

Now - extraterrestrials?  Highly unlikely, as any species with technology to cross the galaxy would have no need to enter our atmosphere to observe us ... even before we had modern electronics, spewing our media all over the solar system.

Mrs Didge and I saw one once, just on dusk but with the setting sun behind it. We watched it drawing closer as we walked. Fascinating sight. And when it got close enough we realised it was the Goodyear Blimp. But it was unidentified until we identified it. Then it wasn't. :)

Since the acronym literally stands for "Unidentified Flying Object" the answer is "NO, it is not a hoax."

We have several Objects not identified on record and even photographed. Now, whether they are extraterrestrial vehicles is an ENTIRELY different subject.

I'm still out on that one. But, I do believe there are strange and unexplainable things in our world or universe  :)

It seems to me that there have been a lot of people who have reported sightings. Can they all be imagining ? A bit like the Loch Ness monster. Although there is a argument that keeping the Loch Ness monsters myth alive would boost tourism numbers.
