We have had different uses of the word "Romance" when regarding relationships as we get older. This holds true for me and the society I grew up in, so I would assume some semblance would be similar elsewhere. At age 8-10 it might have been holding hands or a quick peck on the cheek or lips if one were so bold. At age 10-13 it might be a lingering kiss and a head on the shoulder under a bright moon.

Physical romance is tricky because cultural norms of each generation seem to keep moving the slider of "acceptable" versus "unacceptably too mature".  I think we have the most fond memories of the innocent "Puppy Loves" and little "Crushes" that mold who we are to become as we get older.

We need to maintain the innocent romantic starting points so our children can have these same memories.

No children should be allowed to 'do whatever they want', particularly romantically.  No child under age 15 or 16 should be 'dating'  other than well supervised group outtings period.  Under 15 they better not be doing more than hand holding together.    If that.  They most certainly dont get to 'do what they want'.

Well, if one thinks they should learn how to juggle by using meat cleavers, I guess it would make sense that they should also learn about romantic relationships at that age.

TEN!  Really, age of consent in most states is 14!  In my state you allow a child to have something as simple as a semi romantic kiss on the lips between two 10 year olds in a relationship the kids committed a felony, the parents committed a felony!  Why let someone so young make a mistake that could follow them for the rest of lives.  What happened to parenting in the world?
