It can be shown rather easily that the processes of mind occur in the synaptic firings of the brain. There is no empirical evidence of a soul, as used in the spiritual context.

The word Brain is used more objectively, brain working or activity more in those terms, and mind is related to thinking and our conscience but there is no proof of soul

If the mind were the same as the brain, I don't think we would ever be caught in such a thing as a "dilemma."

My preferred paradigm is a body and a soul, with the intellect and the free will as properties of the soul.

I personally find that model to provide the greater understanding of how we humans "operate."

I'm not equating the intellect with intelligence. And like Einstein's unified field theory, my "model" does not perfectly explain everything.

To be honest, I have grown temporarily tired of explaining or defending the things I believe. It is more effort than I am currently interested in making---I'm taking an intellectual "vacation" from such work for about 4 months. (An arbitrary amount of time---it will probably be less.---to enjoy my retirement, which occurred almost 2 years ago.)

I will be on Q & A sites during those months, but not with a lot of detail.

Here's a site which you might like:

(Aquinas is a favorite of mine---and I do not presume to understand everything he said.)

No.

The Brain is sn internal  organ covered with blood, cells, skin, etc.

The Mind is inside the brain.

The Soul is the physical complete body.
