I never saw the point of New Mexico.
If you were to get rid of one state in the U.S., which would it be and why?
I think North and South Dakota should merge and just become Dakota.
Give Oregon and Washington back to Canada. .. Guess that's two, well you could cut Texas in half to keep the numbers correct.

Kansas. Its just kind of stuck there. Like an unused appendage. Can't get rid of it can't find much use for it.

Instead of a state can we be rid of a District?
How about we turn loose of some "protectorates" first?
Then give the native nations a choice:
1 - become a full part of the USA, or
2 - become a fully sovereign nation
