If you were attacked on the street, do you truly believe that you could defend yourself?

With my Glock 19, yes. Without it, probably not. I'm not as fit and agile as I used to be.

I took martial arts class couple of years ago,I went for only a month or so..
and I learned that the best way to defend yourself in case someone attacks you is to RUN AWAY as fast as you can.

Sugar Ray Robinson (the original Sugar Ra) said that occasionally somebody tries to start a fight with him in a bar. He ducks the first time. He ducks the second time. If they throw a third punch he hits them in the stomach with everything he's got and then, he said, if they're still standing, I run.

Yeah because if the attacker has mastered only couple of martial arts moves (assuming they are not armed or don't have much strength) then we are doomed.

No. Because people usually do two things, freeze or fight back. I have no idea how I would respond and have no desire to find out.

I'm fairly fit and strong. I'd probably be shocked and frozen first, but I'm fairly confident that I could defend myself before running.  I was taught how to get out of a strangle hold and other things.  Sucker punch them in the throat and go for the eyes. I always carry my keys splayed out in my fist when I feel unsure of my environment.  Luckily, I've never had to use the skills.

100% sure . . . .

How EFFECTIVE the altercation might be in my favor? . . . Is yet to be determined . . . Ah causality, you vex me so.

Hello Roy! It will totally depend on the number of people attacking me, if they are males or females, their size and several other things. Generally, I will indeed fight back if I am being assaulted, but it will be very difficult if I am outnumbered. I am pretty good at avoiding brutal situations though, it’s unlikely that I would end up in such a position!

I guess it would depend on the type of the attack. If it was another woman trying to cat-fight me, I could probably take her down.

If it were a guy, probably not.
