I'm off work today because I accidentally started my wife's car with my keys while hers were in her coat pocket and neither one of us noticed. She was at work by the time I realized. What's the silliest reason you missed work? Legitimate or not?

Many years ago, before I went into construction, my family and I were moving from one house to another. The movers packed up everything and loaded it on a big truck. A few hours before settlement, we were called and told that settlement was put off for a couple of days. We had nowhere to live and everything we owned, including our clothes, were on that truck. Without my suits, shirts, shoes, etc, I sure couldn't show up for work in jeans and a t-shirt, so I called out for a few days.

My boss at the time my sister was dying in the hospital was the best boss I could have ever asked for. He knew my situation and always told me he didn't care when I did my job just as long as I didn't go over my budgeted hours each week and that I got my job done. Having that kind of privilege I never took it for granted. I was determined to make sure he never regretted making that decision towards me. And that meant I was always brutally honest with him. So to answer your question he never even batted an eye when I walked into work one day with my 5 year old daughter and said "Mr. (His real name but I will call him Mr. Perfect boss) I said "Mr. Perfect boss, I will not be able to come in tonight because well.... You are never gonna believe this because I wouldn't believe this if I heard it coming from someone but it is the Gods honest truth." Mr. Perfect boss said "okay...?" (Cuz I never called in IN PERSON before! Lol!) I explained to him that I had to call in because my babysitter has Multiple Personality Disorder and I did not feel comfortable leaving my daughter with the personality that was out and we are having a hard time getting this alter personality to go back dormant." True story. He grinned as I told him I could get their doctor to give him a note cuz you just can't make this stuff up! He truly was Mr. Perfect boss. If it wasn't for his grace and mercy I don't know how I would have made it through that time in my life. Although looking back on it now, he may have just kept me around to "tune in next week" to see my soap opera of a life! Lol!

I thought it would be a good idea to give myself a self home perm. It wasn't.  Fried my hair orange.

Vanity : I couldn't go to work like that. Spent most of the day trimming it and giving my hair conditioning treatments.

Silliest and legitimate---

Years ago I was taking a few medications.  The side effect of one was drowsiness.

I took it at night for obvious reasons.  The other 2 I took when I got up.

One morning I woke up and accidentally included the "drowsy" one with my morning 2.

Once I realized what I had done, I called work and said what I had done and would be in after I became alert.

I made it just after noon.
