What would be a good dish to take to a couple who's wife just had knee surgery?
A casserole of some kind. You're not going to cook it are you! Please Yin, just go and get a tray of Stouffers Lasagne. :))
It might be fun to take them a variety of take-out Chinese food.

Make Dragonfly's crock pot chicken. Just a few ingredients and super easy to make. It's the best!!!!!
Mrs Didge had a hip replacement two years ago and the doctor advised me to make sure she had foods with plenty of iron in them. I made several variations of steak and kidney meals. Maybe a nice steak and kidney pie would hit the spot but anything would be appreciated.
I am not confident enough in my cooking to make something so I would call and ask if I could pick something up. A nearby grocery has a salad bar that includes soups and salads. Their deli has a great selection of sushi, baked chicken, veggies, etc. And of course, if you're bringing something, you might bring paper plates so there won't be any clean up.
