In an age of accelerating over-population, of accelerating over-organisation and ever more efficient means of mass communication how can we preserve the integrity and reassert the value of the human individual?

I'm curious when there was ever an age when the value or integrity of every individual was respected. Unconditional plenary dignity seems conspicuously absent from our collective social history.

At least in the current age of ubiquitous mass communication, a potential exists for the individual to assert themselves on a previously unprecedented audience. Take this site as a small example. Whether such assertion(s) render integrity, or are valued by the world-at-large, is a subjective call on the part of the observer.

But all this said, Mary, we have gone astray from the crux of your initial question, given the narrow context this forum allowed you to present it in.
Reassert the value of the individual? Preserve individual integrity?
Honestly, I'd assert that there would have had to be a baseline state to raise a conparison to, and historically, outside of the privileged class, I don't see that such a time really existed.

Well that was Huxley's intent in this question, individual v the collectivism of communism or socialism when the population becomes so vast that it creates pressures on food supply and the economy. I think Huxley was a warning from the past regarding the totalitarian regimes of Communist and Socialist states of Hitler and Stalin and how those were implemented, into whatever our government has in store for us with our ever increasing population (a two billion increase when he was alive), strain on the economy, and food supply. It echoes our dependence on technology, the state, antidepressants and other prescription drugs from big pharma, invasion of our privacy under the threat of terrorism (NSA Edward Snowden and Project Vault 7), CCTV, webcams, Corporations having the same legal rights as individuals so on so forth.
