Computers are nowadays intrinsic in information technologies. You would be hard pushed to find any company developing an information system without the use of computers. This is because computers allow for all manner of data sharing and data mining, as described below.

Sharing: The information can be shared very easily across the globe; the benefits are obvious, but it opens up a whole host of security implications.

Mining: Instead of just having a single tabulated report of the collected information, computers allow us to rapidly reorganise and refine the data to reveal patterns that might never be known about if attempted manually.
