Talking to yourself and even answering yourself, is really just thinking out loud. Now if you are talking to people who are not really there, then you should see a mental health professional.

Talking to yourself is normal. Mostly. Depression is common but definitely not normal. If you're depressed you need to talk to a professional.

I suspect that is a true statement and hardly one that they can argue with.

This is more about "stroke exchange" rather than about them wanting (or caring) the actual position of your family.
