 Absolutely not... Then everybody
will be over here bombing because
they think there going to get a
holiday....

I lost someone very dear to me on
9/11 and I have mourned everyday
since! Every year on 9/11 I take a
trip to NY and "ground zero" and
also the memorial in Battery Park.
I use my vacation time at work. I
will for the rest of my days not
work on 9/11. I think the nation
should use it as a day of relection
as well. Just my opinion.

I do...think of how many people
lost their lives that day. The
least we could do is pay tribute to
their memory by honoring that day
nationally.

 Change holiday to national hero's
day, the brave never call this a
holiday!!!! I still watch seen from
that day and cry and ask why. But
for a day this nation pulled
together we put our anger behind us
and ask how can we help! To the
family's that lost love ones. I
pray for you. I'm proud of our
hero's god will bless them!!!!

 Since nine eleven caused 2,974
deaths to occur this day should be
remembered as a national
holiday.Therefore all of the
family's of the loved ones that
died will have time to mourn:)

9/11 should be a holiday because it
is a major part of our lives and
will be a part of history. It shows
are countries hard times and
reminds us of those innocent people
who died.

It should be. It can even be a
recognized international holiday
because the people who were
sacrificed come from different
nations and creed. It was an event
that has caused a tremendous grief
to the whole world of the humans!

A day to SPECIFICALLY honor the
victims of 9/11 is not necessary. I
think the British have the right
idea if I read harka’s post above
correctly. It was a tremendous
tragedy. I lost 3 friends; three
lovely, good and innocent families
completely shattered. Yet we are
all victims: Those who were
destroyed and those who did the
destroying. The simplistic
explanation that “they hate us
for our freedom” is so laughable
that no reasonable person will
repeat it these days. But this
event is just one of countless
others that have occurred
throughout human history. What
about those, and the ones surely to
come?
If we had a holiday for every major
tragic event, the whole idea would
be diluted and people would go on
their merry way as just another day
off, and the original purpose
wasted.
We do need to dedicate one time,
once a year, to jolt ourselves away
from our daily routine to seriously
remember, and to truly honor them
all by seeking an understanding and
solution so that this kind of
tragedy will not happen again. Our
survival as a species depends on
it.

 It's unfortunate that days that
were declared holidays to honor
individuals or special occasions
have lost their meaning. Now we
look at them as a day off from
school or work, and a good day for
a sale. I don't know if it would
make a difference, but rather than
a holiday, it should be considerd a
national day of rememberance or
mourning.

9/11 is one of the greatest
disasters of the U.S. History. I
think we need to pay our respects
to the people that lost their lives
by making it a national holiday.

For all the people that said a
National Holiday, I agree
|
 14 Sep 2007 21:14

There should be a National day when
people commemorate and NEVER forget
September 11th! I have felt from
the beginning that a National day
of remembrence is in order! We must
never forget what happened EVER!
Also I feel this would show the
terrorists that we are not afraid
to remember what had happened!

I think it should be,i know that
year after year people half to
remember the horrible frighting
time,but we are a nation,and a
nation should stick
together,especially in a time if
need

Yes I am for it becoming a national
holiday, because known people have
died and we have thier death date a
holiday. We might not know the
names of all those died on that
horrible day, but I think that the
day should be honored for all those
died, all that lived, and all the
workers that had to clean it up and
repair it. To me I think that 9-11
tragedy was worse than any natural
disaster beause no one had time to
evacuate after they saw the planes
coming. It was a sad day for me
cause at the same time here in
Louisiana my uncle died of a heart
attack. He was a fire fighter and I
have always wondered why he was
taken on that day and not another
day. My blessings go out to all
those who had to endure the loss of
a loved one on that day and to all
those who suffered from having to
tell the families
that they could not find the
remains of thier loved ones.

I think we should make it a

and I think it should be
remembered.

I think so, although it is a sad
day, if it doesn't become a
national holiday it will eventually
be forgotten, y would u want that
to be for gotten it was a very sad
day but it was also a special day

I don't think we need the holiday
but if we had one, I CERTAINLY
WOULDN'T SEE IT AS CELEBRATING
DEATH.

It's hard enough to find peace
after loosing a loved one on this
terrible day let alone having to be
reminded every year on TV of the
terrible way I lost my loved one
not to mention how the people
responsible would feel so good at
knowing they made history or a
national holiday which is what they
really wanted.I'm sorry but I will
not give them the satisfaction

We have Remembrance Sunday in the
UK. There is a special ceremony in
London for all the armed services
and we honour the dead from all
conflicts. It is quite moving,
even if you are not that religious.
I would not want to celebrate a
terrorist atrocity as such,
publicity feeds these idiots.
|

First it would cost a lot of money
with no industries working and such
and this nation would be in even
more debt. We already remember it
year after year and people can have
their own silent time to remember
it
|
 11 Sep 2007 23:56
|

While I sympathize with those who
have lost a loved one, making a
holiday to remember tragedy is not
need. As Boris said, we already
celebrate Memorial day.

 We already celebrate Memorial day.

 No I don’t think so…like 9/11
incident more terrible incident is
happening day by day all over the
world and one can not make these
days national holiday. If made a
national holiday then all trading
and businesses will be closed and
at the end country will again
suffer from great lose. Yes we
should pray for those men, women
and children who lost their lives
on that day. But it should not
become a national holiday.
|

 Not a Holiday per se, I wouldn't
want to celebrate a tragedy, but
some kind of memorial day would be
appropriate.

Not unless you are a Muslim. That
would be horrible to celebrator
thousands of American citizens
dying.

No. It would be like celebrating
all those deaths.
|

No way. We should not have a
holiday on the day so many were
killed.
|
 12 Jan 2008 14:30

 I disagree. Why should we
celebrate an attack on the U.S.A.
As a holiday... That's like saying
we should have a holiday for the
holocaust.
|
 12 Jan 2008 13:27
|
|
No way it should be a day of
remembering the poor souls and
their families but not a
holiday....holiday is happy 9/11
was tragic
|

It kind of already is. I geuss I

Holidays are meant for joy and
festivity, not sorrow and mourning.
Who wants to remind the families of
victims about their loss year after
year?
|
 12 Dec 2007 22:22
|
|
Hmmm...I had to think about this
for a while, but I concluded with
"no". Today, it seems 9/11 is
already a holiday. I think if we
make it official, the sadness may
drag on through generations who
never even knew the pain of that
day.
Instead, I'd propose that we just
celebrate their loss on Veteran's
Day.
|

We have enough holidays as it is,
why add more and more, especially
one such as this. What would we do?
Take the day off? Have a feast?
Stay home and be sad in
remembrance? Why cant we just
remember the day for what it is, a
horrible awful sad day that so many
innocent people lost their lives
in. We don't need to go and make a
holiday out of it. When i think of
holiday i think of fun and happy,
this day is anything but.
|
 20 Nov 2007 01:59

I think that there is too much
speculation on who, really, is to
blame. Pearl Harbor was cut and
dry- we know who did that, those
people didn't get anything more
than a day of remembrance. This
9-11, although it was a loss of
life, those people went to work-
they got caught in the wrong place
at the wrong time. The facts don't
all jive in this one. Our president
is less than honest, and I think
there is just too many underlying
motives to think this was anything
more than 'a wrong place, wrong
time' deal for those poor souls.
|
 19 Nov 2007 11:59
|
|
I think no because if we make 9-11
a national holiday then more
terrist will start saying so if
9-11 is a holiday then if we do it
that will be a holiday to
|

Yes, to allow people to remember
those who died.
And to remember those who have died
in iraq since, of all
nationalities.
|
 14 Sep 2007 14:10

While I am devastated by what has
happened to us, for some reason I
am intuitively uneasy about turning
it into a National Holiday. The
brave people who helped in even the
smallest way should be proud and
commended by us all, but I am
afraid 9/11 will not be the end of
this saga...hope that statement was
not too gloomy
