I think the debate topic statement
and the explanation of it are
different, and divided by a fine
line.
Faith, I agree, is an important
pillar of any relationship; without
it, a relationship fails without
doubt. However, just because it is
present does not make or guarantee
the relationship. People carry
faith in things that is
unwarranted, where the basis,
truths, or foundation of faith is
undeserved or unsupported.
Ideally one would hope that faith,
even based on upon best evidence or
supposition, will sustain and carry
us through and triumph over all,
esp. As regards human
relationships. But no matter the
faith--if it is blind and not
tempered by thought and other
senses-- it will not carry us
through with a person who is apt to
take advantage of our faith and
trust. One must look to our
god-given ability to watch, listen,
keep an open mind, and critically
think. It is a fine line to walk
and a balance that most of find us
hard pressed to keep when we love
someone so much, and want so to
believe in one another. We are
human. We want to be able to trust
and have faith. Not everyone will
deserve it, unfortunately, and some
will prove our faith wrong.
