It's ok, I'm in year 7 and most
people in my year have it but it
depends I'm more mature then some
12 year olds, people need to give
12 year olds more credit, we are
not as dumb as you think we are, i
wouldn't give out my phone number
on a public profile because that's
just plain stupidity, if you are
mentally ready for myspace i say
you should be able to have one.

WHY NOT! As long as parents agree
and they don't talk to people they
don't know, then there is no harm
done. Even make it a private page
if you have to, there is still no
reason for anybody to not have one
if they want one.

If your parents knew and allowed
you, then it's okay because it's
their responsibility.

I think it depends on how mature
you are. You open up your life to
some really creepy people when you
go on MySpace and that can be a
danger. You should let your
parents know what you are doing and
share with them your entries. It
can be a great avenue for self
expression.

My children, 13 and 11, both have
one. I have the privacy settings
set so no one that doesn't know
them cannot contact them. We have a
lot of fun with it. People are
using it as another scapegoat to
blame their bad parenting on.

I had one when I was in 6th grade.
I'm in the 9th grade now. As long
as the kids don't abuse it, and use
it for evil kid things, then I
suppose it's alright. Even for the
14-15 yo profiles, you can't add
them unless you know a last
name/email. I don't think myspace
would lower the age to anything
lower than 13.
As long as you're mature about it,
and know when to avoid people and
not get caught up in
risky/sneaky/shady things then it's
okay. It's a site I use for
socializing with old friends, new
friends, and I would like to think
future customers.

This is a great place for your age
group, just don't put to much
personal info on it, or make it
where you have to be a friend to
get in. Have fun with it, you our
only young once

I personally do not think a 12 year
old should be on myspace. I know
the site was started to make
friends but now it has gotten too
populated with adults and porn, not
a good spot for children to hang
out.

It all depends on maturity and
awareness. Myspace can be a fun
social experience when enjoyed with
friends, but it can also be a
dangerous place for personal
information and communication with
unhealthy persons. How are you
prepared to deal with those
dangers? Do your parents trust you
with the Myspace and do you think
that trust is well-deserved? I
think the biggest struggle for kids
(and I am one, I don't intend that
with insult) is understanding those
dangers aren't forty thousand miles
away with some girl who puts
pictures of herself in a bikini, it
is right with anyone who lets slip
personal info. I speak to you
maturely when I say your age group
has the biggest struggle between
what they want to do and what they
know is right.

 I have myspace but I'm 18 and I
know what to look out for. But a 12
year old is not as mature or aware
so I don't think they should.
There is also a lot of adult
material that you can access on
myspace which 12 year olds should
not be exposed to.

I think its okay to have a myspace
when your 12. You just have to be
careful and smart about it but that
stays the same when you're 17 too.
Its a site to make friends and have
fun and all long as you don't get
into a "heavy" convo with someone
you don't know and have a feeling
is not a good person and don't
promise to meet someone you don't
know then i really don't see the
problem.
Myspace ages should range from
12-18 after 18 i think you should
just get a life and quit with the
whole myspace things.

It just seems like a bad idea with
all of the child molesters and such
that use myspace for that purpose.

I do not think it is a good idea to
have a myspace page a 12. But i
guess that's up to you and your
parents what age is right for you.

 Myspace is stupid. I'm 12, and I
don't have it but I have msn.
Although, you seem to be allowed to
have Blurtit account, so...

I am definitely against it. The
exposure to adult-oriented content
is too great, even when the child
keeps her own page private, and the
site monitoring for children's
safety is poor.
I agree that the way the content
currently is, and until there's
better monitoring of content, it
should be an 18+ site and/or
parents should ensure they make use
of the parental controls on their
computers.

Myspace has become a corrupted site
where young children can easily be
scammed into visiting adult sites
or tricked into speaking with
inappropriate people. The creators
or whom ever is in charge of
overseeing the site should better
monitor the content of some of the
pages and profiles because of all
the indecent stuff now on myspace
as well as the large number of
their under aged visitors. If the
sites managers don't filter what's
on the site then it should become a
18+ website.

Although I did not have a MySpace
at 12, I believe that its perfectly
okay to have one. MySpace afterall,
does give security for young people
which makes your profile private
until you accept someone as a
friend. If you feel mature enough
to have a MySpace and take on board
internet safety then so be it. Just
don't give information such as
telephone number, email etc on a
public profile. I think you're
intelligent enough to understand
what is safe, and what is not.
