 Grades are more important than
sports PERIOD. If playing sports
is an incentive to get better
grades that's wonderful. I have
seen first hand the effect bad
grades has had on a high school
football player.
I say keep the grade requirements,
they aren't even that strict!

The whole purpose you go to school
is to learn and be prepared for the
future. You don't have too many
chances to do that and you should
make the most of the opportunity.
Sports requires a disproportionally
large amount of time and energy and
if it interferes with all the other
schoolwork then it should take a
back seat.
If you are truly talented in
sports, you will still be able to
pursue it after school is over.
Give all other subjects a
chance--you never know where your
future lies. Sports may be fun, but
knowledge is more important to the
rest of your life.

 I believe it is fair.
I am an athlete and am still able
to do good in school (high honors
since 6th grade).
Remember there is always a life
after (insert sport name here).

No doubt about this one, if you
don't have time to study you don't
have time to play.

Yes i think it is important that
school kids make decent grades to
play sports. Sports take up a lot
of time so kids need to have study
time also, without wearing
themselves out. But unfortunately
some schools push sports over
academics and other programs
(music, art, drama etc)

Yes because you can't depend on
just the sports to get you through
life. If you are not good enough to
make a team where you can make
money, then you will find yourself
in a situation where you don't know
how to make money because of your
lack of knowledge.
Sports are a privilege and the
grades are the requirements to earn
that. If you can't keep your grades
up, you don't deserve to play
sports.

My mother would never let me play
sports if my GPA was under a 3.0. I
graduated with a 3.4 and played
tennis, soccer, and volleyball in
high school. Sports are a privilege
and should be taken away if you
aren't making the grade. There's no
reason that you should be failing
school but still allowed to play
sports. It's ridiculous!

 Grades should play an important
part. If someone is not making the
grades, they should still be
allowed to participate in sports,
but not be allowed to play in games
or competitions. We have too many
lunkheads out there that don't know
a thing but excel at sports. It's
unfair to the dedicated student.

Of Course. Where I'm from sports
not only keep people out of trouble
but also their grades up because if
you don't pass you don't play. I
think very highly of that rule in
school.

 Yes they should because the
academic comes before the
extracurricular activities. Any
ays at most schools you only have
to have a c or higher in each class
or a 2.0. That isn't that hard to
do.

Yes, a lot of people in my school
hate it and only go because of the
sports and work extremely hared to
be able to stay on the team. If
you take that away then a lot of
the ones who already hate school
will hate it more and not bother
learning anything.

The point of school is to get and
education and LEARN. Sports are a
fun addition but they are not the
main focus. Therefore, when the
important part (grades) start
slipping, it's only fair to retract
the privilege of participating it
sports until the grades go back up.

Yes, it is. If schools allowed
people to play sports without
having to make grades, they would
become way to competitive and not
know or understand how to make a
living as they grow up. Then, when
they finally get to a point where
they are looking at playing
professional sports and not make
the teams, how could they support
themselves if they cant read,
write, do math, then the rest of
society is stuck paying their way
in taxes as they will be in the
system.

No, because if sports are your
thing it is wrong to be held back
because of one or two failed
classes. It's not fair

Hi, I think education should be
separate from sports. It makes
cheater out of students, because
they want to play sports so badly.
In life everyone is not good at
everything, this maybe the only way
this child can succeed in his or
her lifetime. I would just try to
teach him or her as much as
possible. If the truth be know a
lot of greats cheated in school to
get where they are now. It is not
right to hold these children back
from pursuing their dreams. You
know if you can not do what you
love in life; life may not be worth
living. Take care!

they make the players unhappy and
they hold them back

Some people can only do sports or
exceed in sports if im making a 59
in a class and they dont let me
play then what do u have to look
forward 2?? No Grades should be not
even a factor that's a completely
different subject

Why would you grade someone on
sports. Its just a game and real
life is not a game.

No, I think Grades shouldn't be
involved with sports. In my School
you can have an A in Every class
but fail one and you have to miss 2
games.
