Should Online Be A Forum Of Unmoderated Free Speech?
For
The Internet Has Become A Place Where People Seem To Feel That It Is Fine To Say Anything They Like. Deformation Law, Discrimination Law, Race Law Seems To Go Out Of The Window. Is This Acceptable Or Should People Be Held Accountable For Their Content. When I Say This, I Do Not Mean Website Owners I Mean Posters Under Anonymous Screen Names.

It would be a form of censorship. If you don't like what people have to say, you can rebut their comments.

As a matter of fact, this site goes a little overboard. I tried to use Vice President Cheneys first name (not Richard), and I received a message that it was unacceptable. A little ridiculous, wasn't it?

Of course, this depends on the forum. Something directed at children, should of course be moderated. However, to censor the Internet as a whole would require global standards, and that's just not feasible.

Yes! Unlike our real World today we should be able to speak our minds! If someone is offended that is on them! We are the ones who chose what is offensive to us!

Yes, its our right in the 1st amendment to have free speech. The internet is a form of communication so it shouldn't be resticted.
It's unfortunate some people have discriminative views and rude comments but it is still their opinion and they have a right to express it

Yeah, i think so. If we let speech completely free, it might cause some offense, but it would bring us the real aspects of various human beings.

While I'm all for free speech, I don't waste my time in unmoderated forums. Ergo, let the marketplace decide if free speech is appropriate in any online context.

There needs to be more regulation of content on the World Wide Web.

Ironically, the cross-border nature of WWW access makes regulation both necessary and virtually impossible.

I think it should be self-moderated by the standards, moral code and best practices of a society/the group. When that is ineffective, we need to look at what's amiss in our society/the group.
