 Yes tattoo is a sin

First of all since you are asking
if it is a sin i am assuming you
want a biblical response.
Unfortunately there is not a clear
biblical answer. The Leviticus
reference states "'Do not cut your
bodies for the dead or put tattoo
marks on yourselves." although this
seems to imply that tatoos are
indeed a sin, you must look at the
context. First it couples tatoos
with pagan worship - most people
today do not get tatoos for this
reason. Second it is in Leviticus
which is part of the old testament.
Theoretically christs' coming did
away with the old laws (at least
those not still taught by christ or
his followers in the new testament)
so are they a sin? It really
depends on your interpretation of
scripture. Personally i do not see
it as a sin but merely stupidity

Everything behavior is a sin if you
do it for any other reason than
bringing glory to God. Don't worry,
though. God is a loving and just
God and will forgive you. If you
have sinned and already have gotten
a tattoo, the Bible gives a
solution in Matthew 18:8: "So if
your hand or your foot causes you
to sin, cut it off and throw it
away. It is better for you to enter
life injured or crippled than to
have two hands or two feet and be
thrown into eternal fire."

Just like you said it, it is a sin.
The body which you have, what you
do with it, work everyday, play
everyday or whatever your
activities BELONGS to God. Since
it belongs to him we shouldn't do
anything against the body.

I believe they are sinful as there
are a couple of verses in the bible
that refer to it. I'm not a royal
bible thumper so I can't call the
verses or anything but one says
that your body is a temple and a
few verses later, it says to keep
the temple clean and healthy.
If you read much into it, you can
even say that things like potato
chips are a sin but, we all have
ways we want to express ourselves
and God has given us the right to
choose.

Once again, I wish they had a
neutral option on this question.
If it is indeed a sin it can as
easily be washed away as soon as we
say we repent of our sins. I feel
that personally. HOWEVER, if it is
a sin then it is unfair to the
people in the Holocaust whom by
force were to get tattooed as a
means to keep track of their
"prisoners" by number. Should they
even be punished for something that
was by force?

No! The human body is merely a
complex machine. There fore etching
on it should not be considered
anything more than graffiti or
memorializing! If a child dies and
in remembrance you have their names
tattooed on you arm is that really
SIN? What if it is a picture of
Jesus that you have tattooed on
you? Before people go making
blanket statements they must look
into the situation!

If you interpret the bible literal
you can verify anything in a
bigoted manor!
How do you read revelations
literally?
NO document can last through time
that is literal in it's writing!
MY GOD is smart enough to know
that! IS YOUR'S?
I don't care for tattoos, BUT
that's your choice!

Not everyone believes in God or the
same principles.
Some think tattoos are just a way
to express themselves... An art.
It's no one's right to to tell
others how they can or cannot
express themselves... Because
tattooing is on the person's OWN
body.
He's not tattooing others against
their will. He is getting his own
body marked on

Do you realize that many of the
"laws" in the old testament were
written from common sense issues
for the day and age in which they
were written? I am not criticizing
anyone's personal beliefs, but this
is a simple and verifiable fact.
Look at the whole not eating pork
products issue. In the past (when
leviticus was written) people had
no clue what enzymes and entities
lived in a pig's flesh and that it
had to be cooked a certain way in
order for it to be deemed safely
edible. They just knew that after
someone ate pork, they became
deathly ill... Hence, pork should
not be eaten by people.
The same with tattooing. Why do
you have to be licensed in order to
tattoo someone today? Because of
the health risks. Back then, they
did not know about bacteria and
infections... So a tattoo artist in
those times used the same "needle"
on thousands of people before
discarding it, without cleaning
it... Did you know it was not a
highly common practice for
individuals to wash their hands...
Even after using the restroom until
the mid 1600's? Check out the
Islamic law about thievery... The
washing hands issue is exactly why
they demand the right hand of a
thief be taken, so they are forced
to eat with the same hand they wipe
themselves!
Hope this clarifies why I disagree
with your statement adequately.

Nope.. Well now a days everything
is a sin.. You can breath and it's
a sin! Lol
but tattooing isn't bad, if you get
a swear word written where people
can see it.. That be bad.. I guess

If we are talking about defacing
the body, being overweight would be
a sin, tanning would be a sin,
biting your nails or having
extensions on your nails would be a
sin. Eating food that cause harm
to your body would be a sin. Ahhh,
but judging isn’t that a sin too?

I am going to say 'no' here. I
know what Leviticus says, and I
agree with the Bible. However it
could be that the context was for
those people who tattooed
themselves were doing so in worship
of a pagan god. Because God was
telling the Israelites not to do
what the peoples of the pagans
nations were doing. But frankly I
do not care for tattooes, I think
it makes a person look messy. Also
it is permanent and dangerous.

 I wouldn't WANT a tattoo, but they
are definitely NOT a sin. I just
wouldn't want one because they are
permanent (knowing me I would
probably pick a stupid design that
will be there forever), and they
are very painful, so I have heard!

I have heard that tattoos are a sin
in some religions but I really do
not think it is .Its your body and
if you want to have a tattoo I cant
see how that can be a sin. You are
not hurting anyone. Just make sure
you like it cuz its gonna be there!
Tattoos are a form of art and I
think the right ones can look sexy!

Its a matter of choice. If you
think about it, almost everything
we do that's fun is a sin.

 TODAY, everything is a sin. I don't
think its a sin but it can make a
person look bad. Just think, 85
years old and a big tat across your
upper but, LMAO.

 That's up for interpretation, again
and again and again.
I think that technically according
to the bible it is looked upon like
a sin (ornamentation, seven deadly
sins), but I don't think it is.
Society evolves.

They're not a sin. Would you say
piercings are a sin?

I myself do not think that tattoos
are a sin. Everyone is entitled to
their own opinion. Something that
is normal to some is not normal to
all. When u call something a sin
you are calling it evil,so are
people with tattoos evil? Of course
not cuz my sis has one and i would
never call her evil b/c she's the
best!!!

I think its a matter of personal
choice in how you practice your
faith. Tattoos to me are nothing
more than a fashion accessory and
nothing to do with the bible. The
bible is open to differences in
interpretation which is why we have
so many churches and wars. In a
prayer i learned in primary school
i remember a line that went i, if
you believe that you are committing
a wrongful act then you have
sinned, if you believe that your
action was in gods eyes justified
then you have not sinned. But you
must believe with your whole body
and soul as god will know the truth
of it within your own heart. So i
won't condemn ativa for his belief
even though i believe he is wrong.

 Personally, I don't care for
tattoos, but I see nothing sinful
about them. Many people consider
tattoos to be art, and others feel
they a matter of
self-expression.
There are societies all over the
world that consider tattooing a
part of their cultures, and in
some, the more tattoos, the better.
In some of those cultures tattoos
are a rite of passage from
childhood to adulthood. If an
individual does not receive a
tattoos) at a particular age, he or
she will not be considered a man or
a woman.
