 It depends what your definition of normality is, padraig. Going back to Montaigne, I was under the impression that we got out of India because they wanted us to, and we were losing control anyway.

 I agree with padraiq. If the U.S. Pulled out of Iraq tomorrow there would be a bloodbath in the streets there. After a while it would slow and come to terms with itself. Until then "they are killing us" is heard from both sides.

 No. I think that no matter which country has been invaded and controlled by the british will never be able to get any semblence of normality until they go. Yes there will be turmoil but better that than the slow painful death of a nation. I guess the lesson is, stay out of other peoples countries.
