The Chaos Caused By British Haste To Leave India Was More Harmful Than Keeping Control Of The Sub-continent And Allowing A Gradual Development Of Devolution/independence.
For
The Subcontinent Is Still Suffering From The Over Hasty Exit Of The British.Would The Chaos Have Been Avoided If A More Gradual Approach Been Taken?
I think the Indians are doing just
fine without the Raj.

It depends what your definition of
normality is, padraig. Going back
to Montaigne, I was under the
impression that we got out of India
because they wanted us to, and we
were losing control anyway.
I agree with padraiq. If the U.S.
Pulled out of Iraq tomorrow there
would be a bloodbath in the streets
there. After a while it would slow
and come to terms with itself.
Until then "they are killing us" is
heard from both sides.
No. I think that no matter which
country has been invaded and
controlled by the british will
never be able to get any semblence
of normality until they go. Yes
there will be turmoil but better
that than the slow painful death of
a nation. I guess the lesson is,
stay out of other peoples
countries.
