Favouritism, if it means unjust
differentiation between students
resulting in hardship for the less
favoured ones, is always wrong.
As to whether it occurs or not,
that must vary from university to
university according to the kind of
people teaching and studying there
and the extent to which discipline
is maintained by those in positions
of leadership.
