How about those whom post a debate should earn points for every reply rec'd? blurtit would certainly be lacking if blurters, such as myself, refused to post any further debates until it is done. i will not post any ?s nor debates until we are entitled to point compensation! thank you for your consideration in this matter.

I think we need to have "debate" groups as well as "opinion" groups to differeniate between true debates and opinions that are definitely not debatable topics such as "coke is better than pepsi". Opinions are fun and enjoyable but not as a debate group.

I think some of us aren't sure what we are suppose to talk about..you said we are to discuss the content of the Blurtit Podcast So are you saying we are to discuss what our opinion is for adding a blog option to Blurtit?? Sorry, but it takes some of us longer than others to understand...lol And now my answer to your question would be: Yes...

Here's feedback from me:
- I thought the podcast was WAY too long. If you expect to hold listener's interest for 10 minutes, it's going to have to be something really entertaining and interesting. Even people's favorite songs only last on average from 2-4 minutes-- and those they can sing alon with and are fun.
- I liked the Question examples--but again, the topic went on too long!
- The attempts at humorous banter between the cript readers is rather lame, in my opinion. Besides, the site a worldwide one, and not all humor (or attempts at it) translate across cultural boundaries.
- On the portion regarding debate forum, I thought it was a slap in the face to those of us who have been trying very hard and in earnest to help new blurters understand that debate is not just arguing and disagreeing over opinions to present it as exactly that-- arguing, being argumentative for the sake of it, and just registering an opinion without any reasoning. And wondering why you didn't highlight the fact about all of the personal nasty comments from blurters to other blurters? That have been allowed to remain in a supposed "debate" forum--you know, the ones that don't address the debate topic but are simply personal attacks that you're allowing to remain there (even though your "Blurtit rules" supposedly say that these kinds of comments won't be tolerated)? I guess you forgot that part in the script.
So there's my feedback-- not to say that it seems to make much difference these days from me or other long time previously loyal veteran blurters that helped you build the site by their time and participation. Seems you're absolutely going for another type of user these days.
Well, I'll wait for the respectful site to return--if it ever does--where moderators take the thoughts of veteran blurters seriously and take their own policies about respectfulness and the use of forums more seriously. And I don't need a reply to my feedback; take these constructive and honest comments them for what they are worth and/or feel free to ignore them.
Item 4 needed to be said.

Hi, guys and girls,
I will try to mention 'what is a debate' and 'how to debate' in the podcast for the next week as the podcast for this week is in the production process. Sorry about that.
If you have other things you want to mention in the podcast, please let me know.
All the podcast can be downloaded from i-tune(it's free), and are listened by blurtit users and also others from all over the world :) Your knowledge, question or opinion is shared with more people. It's a really exciting thing because your answer may help more people out.

I left a shout in Shujing's box, but I see it's been deleted. I just wanted to share it with everyone here. I particularly don't want amore to think she's alone in her outrage.
I, too have been a member for a long time and have stuck with Blurtit through all its growing pains. Her point number 4 has been a sore point with me and others for months. I am so tired of responding to requests for my input in The Blurtit Suggestion Box group only to be placated with minor and cosmetic changes. I take issue with the podcast's description of the debate forum. Debates are not about voting for or against topics. They are not about our opinions. Opinions should be left for discussion groups or a discussion forum. A debate is about taking sides on an issue and arguing its merits with facts and logical reasoning. It is about trying to convince others, through persuasive arguments, that the position one has chosen is the correct one. It is not about voting for or against the debate. That should be left for an opinion poll.
Members have shown an interest in an opinion poll feature, and we have been asking for one for months. I am tired of spending my time explaining what a debate is when members ask me. That's the staff's job, not mine. The staff is supposed to be approving or disapproving debates, but they are doing a poor job by allowing questions and undebateable topics. The feature that was added to allow members to flag a debate as not a debate is an utter failure. I appear to be the only one who uses it. Maybe no one else knows about it because people don't read. In any case, nothing has been done about those "debates" that have been flagged.
You've asked for our input, and we have given it. The ball is in your court, Blurtit.

Hi, Robbier44 and others
As mentioned in the previous thread, the podcast for the next week will mention 'what is a debate' and 'how to debate'.
There will be a big change in Blurtit, and we are really working hard on it. I believe with this change, all those problems will be solved. So please give us a little bit more time, thanks.
