Dext's debate was quite an old one. Something more recent should have been used.
Please stop using the word "opinion" when referring to the debates. We're trying to get away from that, and it's misleading.
I hope Kelly is feeling better. Bronchitis is a bummer.

According to dictionary, debate is 'a formal discussion of a particular problem, subject ect in which people express different opinions, and sometimes vote on them'.

I think there is no absolute truth, everything is subjective and opinion based. We say or argue things according to our belief or other people's belief. It's not necessary that scientists or laws are absolute true or correct. And it can change when time goes by.

I disagree. Debates involve arguments and logical reasoning in order to persuade others that one side or the other is best.

In addition, lovely me, when votes are involved, it's usually after the sides of a debate have been argued and the audience votes for the side they feel was the most convincing. I asked them to get away from the use of the word opinion because. In the context of Blurtit, members are misconstruing the idea of opinions in relation to debates.

The Fear Of Death Is Second To Americans' Fear Of Public Speaking.
'Sorry, but it isn't my opinion. It was a topic discussed in a documentary I recently saw, and the statement was based on research.'
So a user's opinion cant not be posted as a debate topic, unless it is discussed in the newspaper or by some authority?
I think it is not right.
As said, we debate based on what we believe, at the end of the day, its still opinion, nothing is objective.
The statement on top is an opnion, just not yours but others.
