I watched a love story drama recently, the words of the main character kind of touching me -- you never marry your dream person, but you compromise and marry the one that is the next. Is that true, what do you think?

Committed relationships involve compromise. Each partner must give a little. This doesn't mean totally re-making yourself (unless it's what you want), it means you both accept each other as you are. My spouse has had to make alot of compromises and I've tried to be fair and make some adjustments within me. I did marry the next one, but they look so much alike (I truly believe that's what attracted me) and he turned out to be a great catch.
