I am comfortable being affectionate in public, but to certain degree, hug or kiss is alright. But my boyfriend who is very shy, he is not comfortable with kissing me in public.

(Gee , my typing on the question could use some improvement, I see... sorry about that)
I am very comfortable with PDA; holding hands, hugging, kisses. It's so natural to me. But no long, passionate lip locks, please!
Maybe your BF will get more comfortable over time...
does it bother you that he doesn't want to kiss you in public?

It doesn't bother me if other people are affectionate in public, but for me, I always seem to feel a little awkward. Holding hands is one thing, but I feel a little uncomfortable when a partner is hanging on me in a public place. Yikes! Maybe I will feel differently when I meet the partner I choose for life! :)

Being Japanese, she was not okay with it at all. After being in the States long enough, she realized it is a different culture and adapted.

yeah, asian culture is quite different with western culture. Asian People dont express themselves too much in public.
Note to matooch: I think there must be much fun you guys dating becuase the culture difference is quite big. Do u like japanese food? My friend who is a chinese girl and had an english boyfriend, they broke up becasue of the food! I am so shocked when i heard this. She hates english food and he doen not eat chinese food at all...

I'm an old time Cowboy, and you don't have any there, and are too young anyway, But picture being happier than a tick on a fat hog's fanny, and that is close!
Why are real Cowboys thought of so well of?
SO LONG!

My boyfriend was never comfortable holding hands in public. He always said that showing love in public is not appropriate. I would hold on to his hands and then he would push it off. I cried and i told him how much it hurts me every time he does that. He still continues to do the same. He said that is how he is. When we are in private average affectionate. What do I do?

Hi, Gjane, if i were you, i would leave him. What's the point to be with A man who does not care about your feeling at all?! I think he just cares about himself, and does whatever he likes, HE ISW SELFISH and does not deserve your love. Holding hands is a small thing, but from this, you can tell his personality. You will suffer more and cry more if you dont leave him now or if you cant change him.

My boyfriend is very affectionate and I am not particularly in public. I don't feel the need to be held or kissed in a public arena to know that I am cared for, however, he does and that is somewhat of a problem. I try to appease but then he wants more and I just can't handle that. It's not an embarrasing thing its more of a comfort issue, I am not comfortable showing affection in public.

Hi, vronied13, i wish my boyfriend was like that...
But i can understand your situation, my boyfriend does not like show his passion either. At beginning, i was annoyed with that, but after he told me its part of his personality, so i respect him and does not force him any more. I think you should talk to your boyfriend your feeling.
