Got an email that the length of comment responses was going to be increased to 200 words. It hasn't happened. I don't know what purpose limiting comments to 100 (or even200) words really has in the first place. If someone wants to leave a longer response, and the comment needs to be that long, they can just leave 5 comments of 100 words each anyway. Limiting the length of comments is frustrating.

AND it's inconsistent, also--- maybe a programming issue? It appears that sometimes a user is stopped at 100 words when initially posting it. Then, one can sometimes edit that comment and increase the length. For example: There are numerous debates where single comments exceed 100, 200, even 300 words, spanning from last July until last week. Examples include ones like this one from user "jimspolice" Nov 12, FOR column in the smoking ban debate.. The comment is 179 words long (as measured by MS Word): Http://www.blurtit.com/forandagainst/Public_Smoking_Ban_Good_or_Bad So perhaps it is a matter of deciding whether or not it makes sense to limit comment lengths in the first place, then whatever is decided, to make that consistently the case. Standard should be consistent and minimize user frustration, in my thought.

Today I tried to contribute this response, and what I had spent time writing was COMPLETELY omitted when I submitted it. How would you feel if you were a user, and what you had taken time and effort to carefully repond to was omitted for length --even though it is accepted in three spearate responses of 100 or 200 words????? Did I have the time to figure out how I would separate this into 2 or 3 separate responses? NO. No, I did not. Congrats on another terrific arbitrary "rule" that makes no sense. (people can leave 3 separate debate responses/comments of 100, 200, 300 or whatever ridiculous arbitrary number you assign and achieve the same response, but with much more aggravation--tryng to figure out how to divide up the response/comment that is called for. What are you people thinking? God this aggravates me to no end. He response. Why dont' YOU post it, then?????????????? "All of us deal with the ego, and it's so unavoidably wrapped up in validation and other's standards for it. We can't help that; from the time we are born, we rely on others to help us meet our needs and in their actions/reactions, tell us there is a reason for being that is personally meaningful. We're social creatures that constantly want and need each other's "approval" /"validation", and that lives in our head and hearts, and is based on survival. Not one of us could survive alone; we need each other, and care what others think of us, no matter what we say outwardly or how we try to convince oursleves otherwise. But I believe balance is possible: A place where we can be self-oriented, rather than selfish, and where we can value what we bring to the table irrespective of other's opinions of us (which really is only them working through their own stuff). Competition with self to reach the highest possible standard is helpful; competition based in other's estimation is fruitless. We must know our own purpose and esteem that higher than others' needs to achieve what we are intended to achieve. It's a journey."

Hi Amore, let me look into this tomorrow and I will get back to you. I have been away for a while so adad1122 has been looking after things in my absence, sorry if we have not been responding to comments posted here rapidly enough.

Hi Amore, Had a look into this and after considering your points, we have increased all comments to 1000 words. This is the same number as is allowed in debate responses and answers. We are presently looking into the inconsistencies you mentioned and hope to have those remedied soon. As always thanks for you feedback.
