Hitchcock did have a bellybutton, but he could not see it because his belly got in the way. Neither could he find out what shoes he had on most of the time.

It's estimated that much of the most ancient linen in museums is actually hemp. It takes magnification to tell the difference between the two. The the level of individual fibers, one twists clockwise and the other the opposite direction. So they're spun in opposite directions (and plied in opposite directions), but look much the same except for the mirroring.
Hemp is more resistant to water-rot though.
