Fort Worth is where the west begins. It is just a few miles west of Dallas but it is vastly different. Dallas is a big cosmopolitain city with the greatest restaurants and shopping malls. Fort Worth is Cowtown with a lot of "boot scooting" fun. One of the biggest events there is the Fat Stock Show and Rodeo each spring.

Texas is about 20% larger than France. Yet it's so flat that you can see most of its borders if you stand on top of a chair.

Not all of Texas is flat or barren. The Davis Mountains, the most extensive mountain range in Texas range from 5,000 to 6,000 ft. Elevation. It is also an area where four eco systems come together. The gov thinks it is high enough for the McDonald Observatory to be placed there.
