Was Marilyn Monroe before the '50s'? How about Paulette Goddard, Audrey Hepburn, Bette Davis, Lana Turner and Rita Hayworth?

I'd have to disagree on Bette Davis, she freaks me out a bit, but all the others are spot-on. Other favorites- Gene Tierney, Jennifer Jones, Grace Kelly, Olivia deHavilland, Liz Taylor

Miss Davis was a little too strong to be considered strictly sexy. Same for Joan Crawford, I'd say. Marilyn Monroe started modeling in the mid '40's, appearing in films in the late '40's, but didn't really become a recognized star til about the mid '50's.
How about Vivien Leigh? Betty Grable and Myrna Loy come to mind, too.

Ya you're probably right about Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Especially if you watched "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane".. Who was the actress that always played in the Bob Hope movies? Was that Paulette Goddard or someone else?

I'm not a huge Bob Hope fan. Was it the "Road" movies with Bing Crosby? I think that was Dorothy Lamour.

Fay Wray! 1907-2004 --Not many can be gorgeous blond and brunette. Check out the blond wig in the blockbuster "King Kong" -(1933)
And she was a beauty, wasn't she, in The Most Dangerous Game (1932)?
And so many others. What a star.
