It depends. If you are trying to calculate the interest yourself, probably the rate is more important. If you want to compare against other investments, the yield is probably important. The latter takes into account the rules as to when the rate is applicable, and what it is applicable to.The rate is probably a better gauge of the future return, up until the bond reaches final maturity. ...more
