Check if your PC is using PCI-Express or AGP graphics cards. One way to check is to open your computer and check the connection physically, or if its about 3 years old or older its most likely AGP. The main differences are the size (ie PC ones will never fit into a laptop), the fact that usually laptops come with built-in cards which means that if you need to replace it you will have to replace the motherboard as well.
