Seawater is about 3.1% to 3.8% salts.  It is NOT at saturation, as there are a few lakes with even more salinity, such as the Salton Sea.  Seawater's salinity varies around the world, and can become even more diluted in an estuary or a river outflow.  It was rather surprising when mixing salt for saltwater aquariums, just how much salt is required.See en.wikipedia.org ...more

Of course, high salt content. Also, many species of fish cannot survive in salt water, fresh water fish for instance. There is also high buyancy, meaning it is denser than fresh water so easier to float things, many plants cannot survive do to high salt content as well.  Cannot drink as will cause dehydration rather than hydration in people.
