Could An Astronaut Land On The Dark Side Of The Moon?

Answer Question

Theoretically, there's no reason why not, but there would be practical reasons why it wouldn't be desirable. Much less is known about the terrain on the dark side, so finding a suitable landing site could be a problem. Also, I seem to recall from the Apollo missions that when the ship passed into the moon's 'shadow', communication with Earth was temporarily lost, so I imagine that this too would present difficulties.
